Wouldn't it be better to simply replace them with the 'next' and 'previous' buttons? I find the 'next' and 'previous' buttons pretty useless since they only switch between posts (and threads, if you're at the beginning or end of a thread). It's just as easy to simply click the post you want in the mini-threadlist below the post.
I could always put them on the bottom set of buttons. Then it wouldn't wrap (with the admin button it should wrap at 800x600 anyway, since it very nearly wraps at 1024x768).
I'd find the next thread and previous thread buttons useless, because I use the threadlist to browse threads and figure out what I want to read. You can see the problem here, but I'm sure we can come up with something.
Maybe an option to modify the behaviour of the buttons between message/threads?
(if the poll script weren't in use right now, I'd put it up as a poll :) )
