Ok folks... here we go. This is what happened, what I think, and what is going to be done.

Ok... first things first, I got a new Signature. :-)

Alrightie... as anyone who wasn't under a rock knows, the NT flagging issue last night turned extremely ugly. After talking it over with a couple of the people involved and reading everything thats been said in here today... I believe it was simply a case of frustration. Tempers which were frayed because of other problems snapped, and a lot of stuff happened that really shouldn't have.

Considering that two days ago I tore the strip off an Empac employee over something that wasn't his fault at all simply because he sold me the cpu, i can relate to having a short temper explode now and then. I'd imagine most of you can too. (fyi - the coppermine p3 600 runs awesome like now)

Believe it or not, there was an actual reason for the NT thing that The Technomage (aka Akardam for you out of the loop folks) was doing, other then trying to annoy us. It was just a simple case of miscommunication that caused nobody else to know what was going on, which led to the post editing, which led to the fight. (if he wants to explain the reason to everybody else, thats up to him... but just leave the posts alone for now)

Now... let me say that based on what he knew about the situation, kwerkey didn't do anything wrong by editing the posts. Knowing what I know now, he shouldn't have. Knowing what we knew at the time, he was fully within his right as a moderator to do that, and didn't do anything wrong.

That being said, the staff here at Riptide who I can get ahold of right now (as well as those I already know the opinion of) have decided that President's shouldn't have moderator power anymore. This isn't because anybody did anything wrong or bad specifically, but its simply a matter of two of the biggest fights in here have been caused by it. As the biggest defender of giving the pres that power, even I can see at this point that its a double edged sword and until its decided permanently just what to do about it (probably with a debate sometime), I'm going to turn it off. (if anyone remembers the MM/SM fight, it was started beause of moderator power as well)

Exactly what I'll give the President to compensate for this loss isn't known yet... maybe create poll rights or something. You can feel free to reply to this and suggest something if you have an idea.

So far as any action towards anybody else is concerned... I believe it was just a case of frayed nerves and tempers. All things considered, this wasn't that bad, and so I won't be doing anything to anybody specifically, except for the moderation thing I already mentioned (which is not because of this directly, but a number of factors... the primary one being that it just seems to cause more problems then it solves).

Questions/Comments/Flames? Use the reply button or hit me up on icq if you don't want it to be public.

Now, can we get back to stories and other fun stuff before I go away again and the place dies? :-)
