Well, I think you have to stand back and look at the big picture somethimes.

Microsoft is mainly sucessful because of Gates' business practices and smart moves, no not always ethical but realitivly smart. So why the're sucessful isn't from the quality of the technology, but I've gotta get to the point.

I like windows, especially the interface. I've used Xwindows, Mac, and funky interface I can't remember the name of for some reason.

Don't ask me why, but I like having both the start menu and my computer. I like some other technology of theirs too.

So yeah, I agree about giving a starter windows. If my first "real" computer had been a Unix type, I would have died. I have a love/hate relationship with that thing ever since I used it at school. Its terribly unfreindly (worse than dos) and I don't care if theyre making newer versions, win is here now.

Okay, to get to my point. MS used businees to push technology that wasn't always the best. Thats where a breakup could possibly be good, to make windows and other products better. But if it does the opposite, I'll be dissapointed.

So, this whole post was a way to say that I'm kinda on the fence. :)
