story on zdnet (got the link from slashdot)
Apparently *somehow*, putting a copy of music you own on my.mp3.com to listen to it from other computers is a copyright violation. Does that also mean that if I buy a book I can't take it onto an Airplane without the airline being sued? I don't quite follow the logic here.
It either shows that big corporations really do run the world, that the judicial system just has no fucking clue when it comes to technology (one only needs to look at the Patent Office, the DMCA, or UCITA to see how well the other branches of government do), or when you buy anything you don't actually own it, you just get to use it until they decide to sue you.
I'll take all three.
