A Goon
A negative net fix rate is best explained by the old programmers' drinking song, "Ninety-nine bugs in a program, fix one bug, now there are 100 bugs in the program."

The only problem is that MysteryMan knew damn well what he was getting into. I remember explaining it all to him when he became President and the staff decided what he should get. He was thrilled, but it was also made clear that he has to do a good job or he could lose his moderator responsibilities. As for his "job," if I remember correctly, he was told about editing posts and deleting posts and basic stuff, and we left common sense up to him. If he really didn't want to be a moderator, he could have declined the position. It's not that hard. He should have stepped down if he wasn't sure, or asked questions. The way it was, he seemed pretty confidence that he knew what to do, and it's not that hard to understand.

He makes it sound as if he didn't know he was a moderator or that he had any responsibility up until this point. The reason we don't have guidelines is because he seemed to understand, and really, this site isn't supposed to be one where everyone has to agree with something and sign on a dotted line to post in. We are supposed to be one community of friends who use common sense when making decisions. MysteryMan knew of his position and power and he accepted it. If he's going to blame us for him campaigning, then becoming President, then learning his responsiblilty, then keeping it, that's a bit odd. He says he woke up one day and found out he was President. I find that hard to swallow, don't you?

I guess we should write up guidelines, but all they'd talk about is common sense. Dozens of pages of common sense, over and over and over. I mean, really, what's the point? As a moderator, I'd never withhold information from Tridus or MysteryMan, especially when they are trying to solve a problem. That's just not the right thing to do. Hell, the TerinUnit thing isn't a problem. The problem is that I had no idea what was going on in my own site, and the person that people voted to be in charge of helping me and Tridus as a three-way team wasn't telling me. You can see how I feel, can't you?

I am upset and tired and all that jazz at the moment, so yeah, I might not make TOO much sense.

I hope this is all pretty clear, at least.

We may be through with the past, but the past is not through with us.
