The computer can turn itself off if you have power saving options enabled and set up to do that. Otherwise, a virus, trojan, or some kind of really really funky setup can cause it to do odd stuff like that.

I'd recommend you make sure you have a virus scanner thats up to date, that at least eliminates the first one.
