some problems with that...Author: Tridus ()

(of course, these opinions are just mine, and I want to know what the rest of the forum thinks)
- There is 30 quotes, and over 5700 quotes have been displayed since the last process reset (which was over a week ago according to the stats page). That means that every single quote has been displayed at least 190 times this week (they are cycled sequentially, not randomly). If anything, there should be more quotes (like 50 or even 100) so that they cycle very rarely. I don't want a situation like cwal had, with approximately four quotes, which rendered the whole idea of random quotes pretty useless since it was just the same ones over and over and over again... (for that matter, ideally I'd want a quote db like slashdots, but I'm not sure how much chance there is of getting my hands on it)
- I tend to think that some kind of quote "quota" is a really bad idea. If you get a great quote from any source, I say use it. It would also mean that someone would have to go through figuring out who can submit quotes and who can't, and I really have no desire to do that.
- Why limit peoples quotes now to block a problem in the future that may or may not even happen? this I guess just goes back to #2, why disgregard a great quote just because the person who came up with it or found it already has two in the database?
